Reporting Kent Shocknek A legal case out of Narragansett has made it all the way to a federal appeals court. U of RI students and landlords call the law unfair. They say the police who put orange stickers on their residences are stigmatizing them. Their feelings are hurt. In tiny Rhode Island (the “Least-important state”- Ed.), the big controversy is all about orange-tagging homes. This is not like red-tagging a home that’s not safe to stay in: it’s about letting the neighbors know an orange-tagged house is a place of noisy parties. Would?a bunch of orange stickers? keep prospective buyers?away, or?draw the younger set in?? I’m assuming the houses with orange stickers aren’t on?the most expensive blocks. Rhode Island must be a great place, if this is the most pressing issue residents face. |
